Ocean cruises and river cruises are quite different from each other. Ocean cruises may have a few days to relax "at sea" (not visiting a port), whereas a river cruise is usually in a different port each day. River cruises are usually on calmer waters, and you get to see land on both sides of the ship for the duration of the cruise.
